Janet Montefiore is a critic and poet born in Cambridge in 1948. She read English Language and Literature at Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford. She is Professor Emerita of the University of Kent, where she lectured at the School of English from 1978 to 2015. Her books include Feminism and Poetry (1987, 3rd edition 2004), Men and Women Writers of the 1930s (1996), Arguments of Heart and Mind (2002) and Rudyard Kipling (2007). Since her short collection In a Glass (1979), her poems have appeared in numerous periodicals.
