The third Shoestring anthology of contemporary poets this year features work by poets all of whom are closely associated with Nottingham Trent University.

Catherine Byron lectures in the Department of English and Media Studies. Her published collections include the Fat Hen Field Hospital and The Getting of Vellum. She is also author of a study of Seamus Heaney.

John Lucas is Professor Emeritus of the Universities of Loughborough and Nottingham Trent, author of many books of a critical and scholarly nature and of seven collections of poetry, most recently The long and the Short of It.

Clare MacDonald Shaw lectures on Modernism and a Women’s studies at the University and is the author of a chapbook of poems, How Ghosts Begin, and a full-length collection, Blue Fever. She has also edited writings by Hannah More.

Peter Porter, who has been visiting Professor of poetry at Nottingham Trent University since 1998, has published 16 collections of poetry since he arrived in England from his native Brisbane in 1951. The recipient of numerous prizes and awards including the Queen’s Medal for Poetry and the Forward Prize (2002), his most recent collection is Afterburner. In 2003 Trent books published his collection of critical essays, Saving From the Wreck.

Gregory Woods is professor of gay and lesbian studies at Nottingham Trent, author of a major history of Gay Writing and of three collections of poetry, the latest being The District Commissioners Dreams.
