Roger Elkin

Roger Elkin is well-known as a poet and editor of Envoi since 1991. His first collection of poems, Pricking Out (1988), was warmly received, and since then he has published two further collections: Points of Reference (1996) and Home Ground (2002), both from Headland.

“Roger Elkin’s  poems have an earthy quality… energetic and vigorous… honest, in his feelings”.

Poetry Revue

“Outstanding… the society portrayed in Pricking Out has parallels with Charles Causley’s but seems a gentler, more civilised world. Or so one thinks, till one goes… to the complex feelings in the books closing section”.

Stand

“His poetry is skilful and erudite, the language is sharp and observational.”
