Caroline Price

Caroline Price was born in Middlesex in 1956. She studied music at York University and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London and has worked as a violinist and teacher in Glasgow, London and Kent, where she now lives.

Price has published two previous collections of poetry and has held a residency in France in addition to working as Writer in Residence in the Lycée Sophie Berthelot in Calais.

“The poems in Pictures Against Skin are well-worked, restrained and intellectual without being cerebral.”

“Caroline Price’s sinuous narratives take us quietly on some astonishing journeys – from France and Italy to wartime India and from Aldeburgh to Terezin. But the real distances they cover are psychological: I can’t think of another contemporary British poet whose work is so haunted by contained violence and yearning.”

Susan Wicks

“Enjoyable and in places impressive ….. Price meticulously draws out shape from experience.”
